SPORTSMANSHIP: A trait in which a true athlete must have.

Is sports always defined as a competition?

‎Well, in other words, Yes. Sports is defined as a game— it is like a competition between individuals, within groups. However, sports is also about discipline, confidence and teamwork. It is about the friendship, the connection built between the athlete and himself, the player and its coach, or the player within  his opponent. It isn't always about who's gonna win, or who's going home with the trophy, it is about the connection and the tension built between the two players.

‎In this year's intramurals, we were mesmerized by the games we watched. We witnessed the game between the athletes per grade level in the game futsal. Wherein, in the sixth game between Grade 10 and Grade 12 STEM, Grade 10 eliminates the seniors with a score of 3 against 2. I may have witnessed the tension built, however the smiles, the sweat, and the loud screams made it worth it in witnessing an amazing sport.

‎In which by that we saw the dedication within these athletes. The sweat, the emotion in reaching their goals. Within this competition, they saw their strengths, and weakness. It didn't matter if they were the best or worse, the good or the bad, or the first or last. It mattered when they made connections and friends.

‎It is a truly appreciated situation. They have the trait, 'SPORTSMANSHIP' in them. They managed to win, to reach their goals and take home the trophies. At the same time, going home with smiles on their faces, and goodest hearts. A friendship built indeed. It is truly a good experience witnessing these athletes go for their dreams and goals, while making friends within the journey.
